Winemaker, Jason Joyce:

Jason was first introduced to the Central Coast of California while studying chemistry at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. After coming to grips with the fact that surfing would not pay the rent, he moved to San Francisco and spent 5 years working in the bio-tech industry as a chemist synthesizing research pharmaceuticals. Needing a break from the lab and the city, he returned to the Central Coast for what was planned to be a brief stint as a stainless-scrubber, grape-puncher, and barrel-mover in Paso Robles. The fit between the job requirements and Jason’s passions were total and immediate. He took on the job of Assistant Winemaker at Calcareous for 3 harvests. Starting with the 2010 harvest, Jason began work as head Winemaker at Calcareous, and with the confidence that amazing vineyards supply, he is ready to bring his passion for winemaking to your table.
