One of the nation’s largest and most recognized annual sporting events, the AMGEN Tour of California, will be blazing through San Luis Obispo County on May 13, 2015. This Tour de France style cycling road race challenges the world’s top professional cycling teams to compete along California’s most iconic routes.
Stage 4 begins at the historic Pismo Beach Pier at 11:30a.m., and will take cyclists through nearly 110 miles of seaside towns, lush vineyards and the rural backcountry of Highway One. After an elevation gain of 5,200 feet, the descent sends the cyclist racing back to the finish line in Avila Beach. This fast paced course is bound to keep you in suspense. With just seven miles between the start and finish, be sure to bring your bike and cruise from Pismo Beach to Avila Beach as you watch the exhilarating start and the final sprint of the day.
Cyclists and enthusiasts will not want to miss this exciting stage of the race! And with the stage finish at around 3:50p.m., you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy some pure play while you’re in San Luis Obispo County.
