Classic California - Day 3

Waking up in beautiful Santa Barbara, agents were treated to a unique tour of this historic town aboard the amphibious Land Shark. With breakfast burrito in hand, we explored streets full of Spanish architecture with our fun guide, Milo Wolf, before making a splash in Santa Barbara Harbor. The water was perfect for wildlife-watching (calm waters mean great dolphin and whale watching) but today it was the local sea lions that joined us for the ride!

Leaving Santa Barbara, we made our way to the friendly town of San Luis Obispo, known as the happiest town in America. With access to miles and miles of nearby hiking and biking trails, San Luis Obispo is a place to go green and get active. However, daily farmers markets, local beaches and vineyards also make it the perfect place to indulge, which is exactly what our group did with a lunch of fresh farm to table food at Luna Red!

Next it was time to discover a Californian (and international) landmark - Hearst Castle. Agents delighted in exploring the gardens and galleries of William Randolph Hearst's luxurious former home with a private tour. We glimpsed the famous Neptune Pool, wandered the grand rooms of the main house, Casa Grande, with their impressive antique collections (including entire ceilings!) and simply admired the incredible views out over San Simeon Bay.

Finally, we headed to nearby Paso Robles, a quaint town with fresh food and a fantastic arts scene surrounded by rolling green vineyards - they have over 200 wineries and it is the fastest-growing wine region in California. After a superb dinner of barbequed steak, fresh salad (grown on site) and rich chocolate brownie at the Paso Robles Inn Steakhouse (the only inn in town that offers private in-room access to Paso Robles' natural mineral hot springs), we checked in for the night at the family-friendly Best Western Plus Black Oak.
