Savor the Sunset Coast...
Blog written by California Life News.
California’s Central Coast is divided into four regions that include the Channel Islands, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Monterey Bay. These areas encompass everything you’d expect from the California coast; miles of rocky shoreline and dreamy beaches for swimming and surfing. Panoramic views stretch out over the Pacific for as far as the eye can see, but these regions also extend far inland to towering mountains, rolling hills and some desert-like expanses.
Sunset Savor the Central Coast 2012 promises to deliver the best of what these regions in our golden state have to offer. The event will be held September 27-30th midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco at the historic Santa Margarita Ranch. The four-day experience will spotlight regional winemakers, brew masters, chefs, purveyors of artisanal delicacies, fishermen, farmers and entrepreneurs of California’s heartland, as well as some of the destinations that make this region unique.
As part of the four-day line-up, Sunset magazine experts will guide SAVOR attendees through once-in-a-lifetime Adventure Tours for a closer look at sustainable abalone farming, take you behind the scenes of Hearst Castle, and get you making wine with the preeminent winemakers of the Edna Valley. (Jeanne – these tours are all sold out. I recommend we feature geocaching at Santa Margarita Ranch and the Point San Luis Lighthouse tour. See Web site for details).
Delve into the culinary world with celebrity chefs through SAVOR- exclusive chef demonstrations. Food Network Star Aarti Sequeira is back for the second year in a row to share her kitchen secrets. The ever-popular and funny Ted Allen will be on hand to indulge guests with his culinary flare. Many more acclaimed chefs will take to the stage to showcase their talents throughout the weekend including Mandalay Bay esteemed award-winning American chef Susan Feniger and nationally acclaimed Chef Rick Moonen.
Attendees will have the opportunity to access exclusive events such as; an enchanted evening at the famous Hearst Castle, a dinner on the cliffs of Pismo Beach created by Central Coast’s culinary masters featuring a “sneak-peek” of winery nominees from Sunset’s International Wine Competition and an equestrian-inspired soiree in Paso Robles at Windfall Farms.
Whether you’re leisurely strolling the grounds of the Main Event or taking one of the exciting Adventure Tours, this weekend is bound to inspire you to explore the bounty of San Luis Obispo County and the Central Coast.
