Clam to the Past October 14th - 16th, 2011
The Pismo Chamber of Commerce has announced its final schedule for the 2011 Clam Festival set for October 14th through the 16th. Activities begin Friday with the second annual Wine Walk featuring 14 wineries stationed along Price Street and around downtown Pismo Beach.
The Clam Festival is a Pismo Beach tradition dating back to 1946. Originally The Clam Festival kicked off the New Year and was called the Winter Carnival that involved clamming and other beach activities that included a banquet to crown the Clam Queen followed by a coronation ball. The modern day clam festival is now a fall staple in Pismo Beach. Sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, the Clam Festival has activities for all age levels, featuring live music, artisans and the now famous Pismo Beach Clam Soup bake off ,with soups from all the best restaurants from Pismo Beach and the 5 cities area.
This years Clam Festival is called "Clam to the Past" and features a theme based parade through downtown at 10:00 AM on Saturday, a surfing contest, the famous clam chowder cook off, featuring both food judges as well as the people choice award, live entertainment, kids clam dig, surfing lessons and of course food and drinks for all.
This year the event features a VIP pass for $40. This is a $77 value for a all access pass to every event. To purchase, visit www.pismochamber.com or the chamber office at 581 Doliver Street, Pismo Beach, CA.
