The San Luis Obispo County Visitors and Conference Bureau in partnership with California Restaurant Month, Acura, San Francisco Dine About Town, Monterey Convention and Visitors Bureau, Santa Barbara Convention and Visitors Bureau and dineLA Restaurant Week, cooked up the ultimate California culinary excursion - a 4-day trip along the coast from San Francisco to Los Angeles to enjoy not only the breathtaking views, but also some of the best food and wine the region has to offer. Travel between stops offered up its own excitement as the winners made the trip in the all new Acura TSX Sport Wagon. The TSX Sport Wagon wasn't simply inspired by a sports car, it was created from one. Sleek lines, a 2.4-liter VTEC® engine, and a sport-tuned suspension contribute to its already impressive performance credentials, while best-in-class mpg and an available power tailgate revealing 60.5 cubic feet of cargo space highlight its more practical side.
The lucky winners of this one of a kind experience were John and Amy Dowdy from Laguna Beach, California. John and Amy began their adventure the evening of January 27, 2011, with an all-expense-paid trip for two to San Francisco. The next morning, they spent a day exploring the sights, sounds and tastes of the exciting city. The following day they headed south to Monterey for another great meal at the famed Sardine Factory on Cannery Row and a tour of the local wineries. San Luis Obispo County was the next stop, which included a stay in the luxurious Paso Robles Inn where they were welcomed with gifts from Vivant Fine Cheese, We Olive and Clayhouse Wines. John and Amy also had the opportunity to enjoy a delicious, organic, 4-course meal prepared by Thomas Hill Organics Market Bistro and Wine Bar. Each course was specially paired with Clayhouse Wines. "It has been 10 years since I've been in San Luis Obispo County and I can't wait to come back and discover more," said John Dowdy. More exciting culinary adventures were scheduled for their stop in Santa Barbara, as they were able to accompany chef and Slow Food Leader, Laurence Hauben, to a private residence to prepare lunch together. From there Amy and John made their way to Los Angeles in time for dinner at a world-class restaurant prepared by celebrity chef, Kerry Simon, and another full day of tasty surprises in the City of Angels. The final day's activities included breakfast for two, before their trip home.
