Family-Friendly Halloween Events in San Luis Obispo County

San Luis Obispo County may not be the spookiest place in California, but you’ll be sure to find plenty of ghouls and goblins at these Central Coast Halloween events. Start prepping those costumes and pick out the perfect pumpkin because these family-friendly festivities will be sure to get you in the Halloween spirit.


Cambria Scarecrow Festival: October 1-31st

Throughout the rest of October you can view scarecrows throughout Cambria each designed with the theme “A Magical Place” in mind. Check out the winners and then choose your own favorite. For a map with scarecrow locations, click here or you can pick up a map at the Cambria Chamber of Commerce.


Zoo Boo at Charles Paddock Zoo: October 24th

Put on your best costume and bring the family to the only zoo on the Central Coast. Bring your reusable Trick-or-Treat bags and your favorite carved vegetable to enter into the vegetable carving contest for this not-so-scary night at Charles Paddock Zoo.

Pismo Beach:

Pumpkins on the Pier: October 24th

Bring the kids down to the Pismo Pier and participate in Halloween-themed activities including pumpkin decorating, costume contests (for kids and adults), games, and crafts. Be one of the first 600 people there and you’ll receive a free pumpkin! Jump around in the bounce houses then get ready for the annual Trick-or-Treat Extravaganza at participating downtown businesses.

San Luis Obispo:

Thursday Farmers’ Market Halloween Festivities: October 29th

Go trick-or-treating at participating businesses and compete for some wickedly good prizes in the Halloween Costume Contest.

Grover Beach:

Carved Pumpkin Contest & Halloween Activities: October 30th

Bring your already decorated or carved pumpkin and enter in the contest to win great prizes from local businesses. Play carnival games and enjoy a free hot dog!

Paso Robles:

A Safe & Fun Halloween: October 31st

Trick or treat at downtown businesses and bring your best carved pumpkin to compete in the carved pumpkin contest. Take photos with the witches, dine on some tasty BBQ and enjoy performances by Class Act and Paso Robles Youth Arts Foundation.

Morro Bay:

2nd Annual Morro Bay Downtown Trick-or-Treat: October 31st

Join the downtown Morro Bay retailers for a spooktacular event! Trick-or-Treat at participating businesses, joint he costume contest and watch the parade from Main St. to Market on Morro Bay Blvd.
