Meet Manuel and Apalonia Bautista of Bautista Farms. Stop by Bautista Farms to pick up your English, Sugar and Snap Peas. Manuel migrated from Mexico and began farming on the Central Coast over 30 years ago. Manuel loves being a part of the local Farmers' Markets because he enjoys meeting the locals and supplying them with a quality product. "I am so thankful that my wife encouraged me to be involved in Farmers Markets, it's the best thing we could have done," Manuel Bautista. Meet Amelia Perez of Perez Farms. Amelia has been farming on the Central Coast for 19 years after inheriting the farm from her father. "It supposed to be a part-time job helping my dad but soon enough I was running the whole show," said Amelia. Currently Amelia is at the market selling her succulent Strawberries. Amelia is also carrying an assortment of vegetables and plenty of broccoli. "I love meeting my customers and their families and watching them all grow over the years," said Amelia about why Farmers Market's are so special to her. Meet Philip and Nancy Langston of SLO Grown Produce. Currently in season are their cucumbers, both English and Persian Cucumber varieties. Philip has been farming since 1980 and started his own operation in 1991 after graduating from Cal Poly as a Crop Science major. "I love being a part of our Farmers Markets and being able to be in direct contact with my customers - I see many of them up to three times a week," said Philip Langston. Philip also shares some of his secret recipes at the market.
