The Great American Railroad Show will premiere in San Luis Obispo on March 18, 19, 20, 25, 26 & 27. This unique, railroad themed live stage show will be presented at the Unity Theatre in both evening and matinee performances. Some of the Central Coast's most notable and entertaining actors and singers have been secured for the cast and are guaranteed to bring the show to life. Welcome and "All Aboard" for The Great American Railroad Show! Train enthusiasts, theatre buffs and music fans will not want to miss this entertainment experience. This professional show will be intriguing for adults of all ages as well as fascinating for younger family members. Every passenger on this theatrical railroad show will be served a full menu of railroad history and railroad humor. The performances will include singing, dancing, railroad films, spoof commercials, famous movie clips and an old fashioned melodrama. The live song selections will include: "The M.T. A."; "Take the A Train"; "The Chattanooga Choo Choo"; "Casey Jones"; "Choo Choo Ch'Boogie" and "The City of New Orleans." Historical elements will be woven into the show including the creation of the Transcontinental Railroad as well as focuses on the Central Pacific, Southern Pacific, Union Pacific, Santa Fe, Pacific Coast Railway and Disneyland Railroads. The program will be staged as a live radio show taping similar to the format of "A Prairie Home Companion" with Garrison Keillor. The Great American Railroad Show will include a special Pre Show Railroad Environment which will feature sophisticated running model railroads and exhibits highlighting Central Coast railroad history and one-of-a-kind artifacts as well as regional rail organizations,

An outstanding cast has been assembled and features some of the area's most intriguing performers. The cast includes professional character actor Phil Jones, the compelling songstress, actor and piano gal Laurelle Barnett, Broadway Musicals veteran Leona Evans and folk musician, showman and film maker Dave Baumgarten. Jeff Lee, well known regional professional actor, has been cast as the Conductor/MC for the show. Regional theatre favorites Judy Dezso, Rick Ridge, Peggy Sharpe and Sharon Mesker will also add their talents onstage. The show has been crafted by Writer/Creator Joe Burns and is being co-produced by Curtis Reinhardt, Director of the Central Coast Railroad Festival. Joe is a Disney Company veteran and Curtis is a music and events industry professional. Theatre professionals Jake McGuire will direct the show and Mary Moyers-Lee will handle the musical direction.

The show will run March 18,19, 20, 25, 26 & 27. (Fridays & Saturdays at 7:00pm - Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00pm) The Railroad Pre Show Environment opens one hour prior to curtain. General Seating tickets are now on sale in advance through the show's website and mail orders and are $19 for adults and $14 for youth under 19. Unity Theatre offers an intimate performance space and tickets are expected to sell out in advance for most shows.
