Yes! Believe it or not, among our many festivities and celebrations is something us locals call "The Lighted Boat Parade". It happens every December, rings in the Holiday season, and gives us locals another great reason to head over to Morro Bay.
So, you may be wondering.... What exactly is a boat parade? It's just as it sounds: many of the boats anchored in Morro Bay get all dressed up with lights, decorations and music and parade through the harbor. You'll inevitably glimpse a Santa (or two) among the other spirited revelers piloting their boats along the esplanade.
Visiting Morro Bay for the boat parade is an annual thing for our family - the children love it and the adults enjoy just another excuse to head on over to Morro Bay for outdoor fun followed by a dinner of fresh caught fish and chips.
This year the parade is Saturday, December 3 and starts at 6:30 p.m. There is plenty of room for viewing the boats along the esplanade, or if the weather turns chilly you can head indoors to one of the many eateries lining the same street.
So, get out there and get in the spirit of the season: experience your first "Lighted Boat Parade"!
