Living in San Luis Obispo's North County, the Paso Robles Wine Region holds a special place in my heart. For one, I get to watch the changing of the seasons (a rare thing in California) by the kaleidoscopic changes in foliage at the acres upon acres of our vineyard-covered hills. For another, I get to enjoy the many and varied activities that celebrate the "seasons" in Wine Country.
I think my favorite celebration in Paso Robles' Wine Country is the Wine Harvest. This year our "Harvest Wine Weekend" is planned for October 21-23rd, and I guarantee the roadside vistas, vineyard tromps, and "fun factor" will leave you with nothing less than a great weekend, and likely, a new found appreciation and fondness for all things...Paso Robles (wines included!).
Beside the beauty this time of year bestows upon us, it's also often the most pleasant time of year to visit with daytime temperatures in the 80's. Unlike our Big Brother and Sister North of us (Napa and Sonoma), the Paso Robles Wine Country and our 150+ tasting rooms still remain remarkably accessible to the likes of ... you and me! I think you can tell that I truly love where I live!
I invite you to visit the Paso Robles Wine website at http://www.pasowine.com/events/harvest.php for details on all the events and activities planned. There are way too many to go into here. But, please, I strongly suggest you arrange your hotel reservations a.s.a.p, as the area regularly sells out.
Have fun, and maybe try a ‘grape stomp' this year?
