Trying to pick out a restaurant to go to in San Luis Obispo is one of the hardest decisions for me as a local. Why is it so hard for me you might ask? Because there are so many good local restaurants to choose from! We have very few chains, and so many delicious and unique restaurants that it is nearly impossible to choose one over the other for a meal out. To solve this dilemma of mine this week, I ate out twice at two very different restaurants during the week. The first day my parents were in town and we wanted to go out to lunch. Together we decided to go to Novo in downtown San Luis Obispo. Their blend of fresh local food, a gorgeous back patio, and reasonable menu prices made it our choice for the day. The have such a delicious sounding menu that it made choosing something quite challenging. I ended up ordering the chicken sandwich on focaccia bread with Brie cheese and green apples. Let me tell you, it was to die for!! My parents loved their meals as well, and the ambiance allowed us to enjoy our meals even more.

Later in the week I did not feel like making dinner so my roommates and I decided that we wanted to go out for dinner, but again, the tough question of where had to be decided. After much discussion, we decided to go to one of my all time favorite restaurants, Big Sky Café. I have been there for their delicious breakfast, and their refreshing lunch but never for dinner. I was definitely not let down with their dinner menu. We started the meal off with their signature corn muffins and rolls that are always amazing! I got the two stuffed bell peppers, one with rice and one with grilled vegetables. The flavors and sauces were so cohesive and unique that I was gobbling it up almost faster then I could enjoy it! There were so many more things on their dinner menu that I wanted to try that I know that I will be going back again soon to try more dishes.

I wish I could go to one restaurant a week in order to make sure that I have tried all of the wonderful restaurants in San Luis Obispo County at least once, but there are so many that I don't know if that will ever be possible! When coming to visit, ask a local shop owner for their favorite restaurant in town and I am sure you will discover it is one of your favorite meals in your trip! So get out there, and start eating!
