Kayaking in Morro Bay!
After living in San Luis Obispo for four years, I have learned about and tried a lot of the fun things the county has to offer. However, there was one thing that I have always wanted to do but never gotten the chance to. This weekend I finally got to do it!! I went kayaking in Morro Bay!! I got together a bunch of my friends and we went for the day and we paddled all around the bay. We rented kayaks from Poly Escapes on Cal Poly's campus but there are many places along the Embarcadero in Morro Bay that you can rent them so that you do not have to transport them at all. It is so cool to be able to kayak right by the gigantic Morro Rock and all of the cool sail boats that are docked in the bay. We paddled out to the sand spit that is in the bay and got out and walked around it. There is nothing but plants and sand on the spit and you feel like you are on your own private island. Kayaking is great because all ages and levels can do it; there is no rush to get anywhere and you can just enjoy the scenery in the area. Central Coast Outdoors has multiple types of led kayaking trips in Morro Bay for all people that include a docent who leads the tour and some even come with lunch or dinner! Then after working up an appetite kayaking, Morro Bay has so many amazing restaurants that will satisfy your craving for good food. You can also go kayaking in Avila Beach if you want more of an open water feel. They also have rentals on the sand there so that you do not have to transport your own kayaks. The whole trip with my friends was a blast and I am so glad that I have kayaked in the Central Coast, I want to do it again and again, and you should too!
