This past weekend, in typical SLO fashion the weather was 75 degrees and beautiful. To take full advantage of the weather, my friends and I decided to go wine tasting at some of the local wineries. Our first stop was at Edna Valley Vineyard. Their tasting room is a quaint room with lots of trinkets and decorations in it to shop around for. The bar that you taste at is at the edge of the room facing a whole wall of windows. As you taste the delicious wines, you are looking out to the vineyards that made the wines. The helpful attendants take you through the five wines on their tasting list as they describe the flavors and smells of the wines all for an affordable $5. After a photo shoot on their gorgeous property, we headed a mile down the road to Claiborne & Churchill Winery. This winery is located in an old, white barn and is much smaller then Edna Valley. The tasting room is in the same room as their oak and stainless steel barrels which give it a very rustic feel. This winery had a much more local and intimate feel. The attendant was very helpful in educating us about what foods would go best with each of the eight wines that he poured for only $5. All in all, the day was a great success, each winery had its own unique flare and all of the wines were flavorful and delicious. It was the perfect activity for one of San Luis Obispo's gorgeous winter days.
