Last year, I was able to go to the new Morro Bay Music Festival. The weather was fantastic, and I was able to groove to one of my favorite local performers - Louie Ortega and his Band. Louie & Band are totally professional and plays great "Tex-Mex" music. (My favorite song of his is "Hey baby, Que Pasa?")
Louie's backup saxophinist last year was also a soloist at the SLO Symphony' "Pops by the Sea" concert - so the band is equally talented. (Check out our YouTube Video and his rendition of "Take Five" on our YouTube Channel.)
It doesn't look like Louie will be on the schedule this year, but they are offering two bands that I have enjoyed several times over the past few years: Big Daddy's Blues Band, and the Cadillac Angels. Cadillac Angels plays what they call "Rockabilly" music. If they can't get you onto the dance floor, NOTHING will.
The music and dancing at the festival are FREE. (My favorite kind of Festival.) Beer, wine and great BBQ are available from vendors on site, and there are a few other interesting vendors there as well. The music is played right on the Embarcadero, so it is possible to listen to the music as you stroll through the interesting shops on the Embarcadero. So for a great "groovy" (yes, I am of a certain age.) afternoon, come on down to the Morro Bay Embarcadero and kick back.
