San Luis Obispo County to Host 2014 Wine Tourism Conference Nov. 12-14 - Paso Robles to serve as conference headquarters

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA – Nov. 19, 2013 -- Save the date! Visit SanLuis Obispo (“SLO”) County is proud to announce Paso Robles has been selected to host the 2014 Wine Tourism Conference Nov. 12 to 14. Registration is $350 and currently available.

Located mid-way between San Francisco and Los Angeles, San Luis Obispo County includes some of central California’s most popular wine regions and communities -- from laid-back surfing haven Pismo Beach and artsy college hub San Luis Obispo to the rustic wine community of Paso Robles.

"This is a huge win for San Luis Obispo County and Paso Robles tourism businesses and a testament to our wine regions’ success,” said Stacie Jacob, Executive Director of Visit San Luis Obispo County who, along with Travel Paso, was instrumental in securing the mid-week conference. “We are thrilled to showcase our destination, which is all about pure play, from renowned winetasting and ATV rides on the beach to living like a celebrity at Hearst Castle."

Wine Tourism Conference
The Fourth Annual Wine Tourism Conference will be held for the first time on the Central Coast of California and is expected to attract a weekday attendance of 250 wine tourism professionals from throughout the world, from wine and tourism associations and media outlets to wineries, hotels, and tour operators. The conference provides a networking forum for industry leaders and workshops to help professionals boost their wine tourism business – and of course the chance to taste the best wines of the region.

“We’re excited to welcome wine and tourism professionals to the Wine Tourism Conference here in Paso Robles, which boasts 230 wineries and was just named the 2013 Wine Region of the Year by Wine Enthusiast,” said Destination Manager Amanda Diefenderfer of Travel Paso, the official tourism resource for Paso Robles visitors. “Our guests will see our recent growth to become a top culinary destination, with chefs drawn here by our great wines and abundant agriculture and a well-rounded region offering family friendly attractions, cultural experiences and events appealing to a range of interests.”

The Paso Robles Inn will serve as the host hotel for the festivals, which are projected to generate a strong economic impact for the local community.
