Spring is a great time to be outdoors in SLO County. The hills are usually an emerald green and the above average rainfall this past winter means they will stay so well into the spring. Almost every area of the county is sporting an amazing wildflower display right now. Driving Highway One north of Morro Bay, you will see carpets of blue lupines broken up by splashes of orange from California poppies. If you are looking for a wildflower hike, almost any trail in Montana de Oro State Park will be bursting with color from now until early June. On the water, the birds who migrate here in the winter (i.e. brant geese) are leaving, but other birds (i.e. brown pelicans) are swooping in to take their place. There is always something happening in the outdoor world on the Central Coast!
