Super Spring Events on the Central Coast

Pismo Beach is home to sun, sand, surf, and serenity. But it would be unwise to trek to the Central Coast without getting a good taste of its art, wine, music, food, and more. If you find yourself in Pismo during March, April, or May - or are looking for a reason to make the trek to Cali - these are some of the freshest festivities you can encounter.

Cheers to Pismo Beach Paws!

The Central Coast as a whole is a big fan of four-legged friends - we happily welcome family pets at the SeaCrest OceanFront Hotel - so it's only natural that these gentle creatures are celebrated at the annual Wine 4 Paws event on April 13 and 14. Hosted by the Woods Humane Society, this event encourages wine aficionados and pet lovers alike to make their way to any of a list of dozens of Central Coast wineries - tasting fees or a portion of purchases made will be donated to the Woods Humane Society. Never a better time to say, "Cheers!"

A Learned Environment

Head to Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo on April 18-20 for their annual Open House. Showcasing the campus to admitted and current students, supporters, alumni, and the SLO community, this three-day event is an ideal way to become familiar with the campus and the atmosphere of the institution. Guests can visit with college deans, faculty, current students, and take tours. But it's not all about education - the public events on Saturday include a parade, demos and concession booths representing over 200 campus groups, and a kids' fair with family-friendly activities.

A Weekend of Indulgence

Hungry? Thirsty? You won't be once you hit the Taste of Pismo on April 26-28, the annual three-day mega-celebration of Central Coast food and drink. Local farmers, chefs, and winemakers group together for "Farmfest on the Coast" - they showcase sustainability and deliver farm-to-fork pairings of locally grown, harvested, and handmade foodstuffs. On Saturday, over 20 restaurants and more than 20 wineries will present the most delectable flavors of Pismo Beach. The weekend wraps up Sunday with a lip-smacking pancake breakfast and BBQ lunch courtesy of the Pismo Beach Cities Lions Club.

Get Prehistoric in Pismo Beach

May 5 rings in the newest season of Art in the Park, which takes place the first Sunday of every month at Dinosaur Caves Park from May through November. Art, music, and children's activities populate this celebrated location in Pismo Beach. Whatever your tastes or aesthetic, the handiwork of artisans and crafters will be on display - paintings, sculpture, pottery, glass art, textiles, jewelry, wood, and much more. Delicious eats are always available - coffee, pastries, and BBQ - and you can't miss the unique play area at the park which includes tempting dinosaur eggs for the kids and young at heart.

Go Back to the Earth

Every Wednesday at the Pismo Pier, the Chamber of Commerce sponsors the Pismo Beach Farmers Market which showcases fresh produce, food, and handmade items. Pick up snacks for now, dinner for later, or grab lunch and walk the pier or downtown Pismo Beach as you savor each delicious bite and the amazing view of the Pacific Ocean. When you've had enough to eat and drink, and your pet is ready to put its feet up too, soak up some rest at the iconic Pismo Beach hotel, the SeaCrest OceanFront Hotel. Then go out the next day and indulge in sunshine, food, and good company all over again.
