Come one, come all! The Race of Gentlemen is a bi-annual automotive festival celebrating the American racing heritage with everything from beach races and exhibitions, period-correct attire and nostalgic attractions to games, live music, food, drinks and more. For the first time since the inaugural event in 2012, The Race of Gentlemen will be hitting the sands of our beautiful west coast and landing in Pismo Beach on October 15th and 16th. Vintage car and motorcycle revivalists will be coming from all over the world to race their machines down a 1/8 mile straightaway in front of thousands of spectators.

HISTORY

In 1947, a group of WWII Veterans formed the Oilers Car Club, an assembly of friends who races their hand-crafted hot rods and motorcycles in the Mojave Desert and dragstrips. The Race of Gentlemen, inspired by this car club and the ingenuity of American hot rodding, harkens back to this time - when thrill seeking individuals built pre-WWII automobiles in their backyards and garages then tested them on hard sand beaches and desert flatlands.

RACER QUALIFICATIONS

To keep with the period, racers must meet specific qualifications for their motorcycles and automobiles.

- Must be from between 1905-1940

- All automobiles must use pre-WWII, American-chassis and engines, er-reflective hand-fabricated parts and no parts manufactured after 1948

Pismo Beach's rich with racing history, making it the perfect west coast debut location for The Race of Gentlemen.
