Wine, chocolate and Paso Robles? Sounds like heaven if you ask me!
This weekend is the Chocolate Festival at Vina Robles Winery. You heard me. The CHOCOLATE Festival. Because of the winery's Swiss heritage, its principals embrace a "European approach" that favors food-friendly wines with modest alcohol content and a bright finish. To promote the enjoyment of wine with food, Vina Robles Winery introduced an array of new tasting experiences as well as a selection of wine and food pairings earlier this year.
One of these offerings is a Petite Sirah and Chocolate pairing, which showcases one of the winery's flagship varieties. Five of Vina Robles' finest Petite Sirahs are each perfectly paired with a handmade chocolate truffle that was exclusively created for the winery by Mama Ganache Artisan Chocolates in San Luis Obispo. The wines featured in this pairing have very unique flavor profiles. Guests will not only receive the opportunity to embark on a sensory experience and taste the various influences soil profile, elevation and microclimates have on the wine, but they will also learn how the chocolate highlights and enhances some of the flavors found in the wines. These new tasting experiences have been so popular, Vina Robles decided to dedicate an entire event to wine and chocolate.
Vina Robles Winery invites guests to come melt into a decadent afternoon of all things chocolate as they host their Chocolate Festival in the luxurious Signature Room of their hospitality center in the heart of Paso Robles wine country. The afternoon will benefit Project Hope and Fairness, a San Luis Obispo based nonprofit that works with cocoa farmers to promote sustainability and adopt fair trade cocoa practices.
This event will be the ultimate in confectionary comfort and encompass anything that is made of chocolate or complements chocolate. An array of local wineries - including Baileyana Winery, Castoro Cellars, Mitchella Vineyard & Winery, Tolosa Winery, as well as Vina Robles - will be on hand to share their chocolate friendly wines. Chocolatiers, restaurants and food purveyors from all over the Central Coast and across California will share their chocolate inspired fare, ranging from baked goods to chocolate covered bacon. After all the food and wine, stop by the Vino Therapy Spa booth and learn the magic behind the soothing power of the cocoa bean.
