Women have always surfed, right?
Come and meet Kathy at the upcoming screening of ACCIDENTAL ICON: The Real Gidget Story, playing Wednesday, October 10 at the Fremont Theatre in San Luis Obispo at 7:30pm. Find out how Kathy got the name "Gidget", how surfing became synonymous with California culture, and how a diary about boys and waves spawned a lucrative Hollywood franchise. Director Brian Gillogly and surf legend/pioneer, Linda Benson, will also be on hand for a pre-show reception and a lively Q&A session after the film. The screening is free, with a suggested donation of $15 ($10 for students.)
The meet-and-greet reception is happening before the film at Luis Wine Bar (directly behind the Fremont Theatre) from 5:30-7:00pm and Kathy will be signing "Gidget" books too! $50 tickets for the reception include food, wine, beer and a chance to chat with the special guests. All proceeds for the party and the film directly benefit the Women's Legacy Fund and the 2013 SLO Film Festival. Click here to buy reception tickets.
