The Festival Orchestra returns to historic Mission San Miguel with a program showcasing masterpieces of the Classical style. Mozart and Haydn traveled extensively in Europe during their lives and this program explores the creative legacies of those travels. Mozart composed his 31st symphony during an unsuccessful jobhunting trip to Paris. Haydn composed the "Clock" symphony, nicknamed for the ticking sound in the second movement, on the second of his two trips to London during his lifetime. Mozart himself performed the premiere of his nineteenth piano concerto, which took place at the coronation of King Leopold II.
Generously sponsored by Andrea & Jerre Sumter, Lois & David Bruns, and Ann & Ron Alers.
