Igor Stravinsky – Concerto in E-flat, Dumbarton Oaks
Alberto Ginastera – Variaciones Concertantes
Ludwig Van Beethoven – Symphony No. 7 in A major, op. 92

Stravinsky’s Dumbarton Oaks, a concerto for small ensemble reminiscent of Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos, was written in honor of an American couple’s 30th wedding anniversary about their Washington, D.C. estate of the same name. Ginastera wrote his concert variations after a visit to the United States from his native Argentina, where he studied with American composer Aaron Copland at Tanglewood in the late 1940s. Beethoven penned his seventh symphony while recuperating at a health sanitarium in the Czech city of Teplice, away from his native Germany.

Generously Sponsored by Lucia Cleveland & Paul Vanderheyden.

TIP: This concert will be simulcast in Mission Plaza.
