In 1899, New York City got its news from an army of ragged orphans and runaways called ‘newsies’. One of them, Jack Kelly, dreams of a better life, far from the hardship of the streets.

When newspaper owners raise distribution prices at the newsies’ expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and leads a young army toward responsibility in a combination of jaunty tunes and high-kicking, musical numbers.

Based on the 1992 motion picture and inspired by a true story, Newsies features a Tony Award-winning score Alan Menken (Little Shop of Horrors, Sister Act) and Jack Feldman and a book by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein (Kinky Boots).

Featuring the now-classic songs “Carrying the Banner”, “Seize the Day” and “Santa Fe,” Newsies is packed with non-stop thrills and a timeless message, perfect for the whole family and every audience.

Newsies will be directed by Robyn Metchik, who has had great success helping many students into professional theatrical careers. Choreography by Emmy Award Winner Suzy Miller, and Musical Director Mark Robertshaw.

Famed NHS Theatre graduates under the direction of Robyn Metchik include:
* Zac Efron, star of “High School Musical” I & II, “The Greatest Showman” and many other movies.
* Joanna Jones, currently starring on Broadway in “Hamilton”.
* Katie Boeck appeared in “Spring Awakening” on Broadway and performed at the Tony Awards Show
