In the framework of the National Travel & Tourism Week, Visit SLO CAL hosts our annual Tourism Exchange. Join us as we highlight the accomplishments of the past year and outline the major initiatives for the year ahead. State of the County Tourism Address - Chuck Davison, President & CEO,         Visit SLO CAL

Chuck Davison serves as President & CEO of Visit SLO CAL , a role he eagerly accepted in April of 2015. Chuck led the research, groundwork, approval and implementation process for San Luis Obispo County’s first countywide Tourism Marketing District, which was established in 2015, increasing the district budget by 400%. Chuck’s passion, drive and results-oriented approach has steered several key initiatives in the first two years of Visit SLO CAL’s Tourism Marketing District. Under Chuck’s leadership, the organization has developed and launched a new brand, expanded into international markets and increased air service development with the addition of new regional flights for the first time in 10-years, positioning the organization for success in the years to come.

Jennifer Walker, Visit CaliforniaJennifer Walker, Director of Brand Advertising, Visit California

Jennifer Walker has over 20 years of experience working for destination marketing organizations, full-service advertising agencies and with globally recognized brands. Originally from Ventura, California, Jennifer serves as Director of Brand Advertising for Visit California. In her role, she leads the brand agency-of-record in development of all consumer advertising activity in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Australia and China, oversees Visit California’s annual program budgets totaling nearly $70 million and drives strategic planning, program evaluation and reporting for the organization. Jennifer recently joined Visit California from Visit Santa Barbara, where she served as Vice President of Marketing and Strategy.

 
Session 3: SLO CAL's Cannabis Evolution

With Proposition 64 now in effect, all 7 municipalities and the  SLO County unincorporated area are approaching the issue of cannabis legalization differently. Hear from a panel of experts about the expected impact of cannabis, the intersection of cannabis and tourism, and what the future of this “growing” industry will look like in SLO CAL.

 
 
SEAN DONAHOE
SEAN DONAHOE, Owner - Operative Campaigns LCC

Sean Donahoe owns and operates Operative Campaigns LLC, which provides Strategic Guidance, Business Development, and Governmental Relations services to private clients and the general public. After a career in international relations and political campaigns, in 2012 he turned his skills to organizing in the cannabis industry, beginning with labor and patients rights projects and then moving on to help guide cannabis industry trade associations. After co-founding the California Cannabis Industry Association, he moved on in 2014 to form a consulting firm where he currently uses his background in political consulting and issue advocacy to assist clients in their navigation of state and local politics. Sean has also contributed his time as a Local Politics Adviser to the California Growers Association, as Vice Chair of the Brownie Mary Democrats of California, as a commissioner to the City of Oakland’s Cannabis Regulatory Commission, and as a mentor at the Gateway startup accelerator in Oakland.

 
 
George Christie
GEORGE CHRISTIE, President - Wine Industry Network

George Christie has been involved in nearly every aspect of the wine industry, from vineyard operations and grower relations to distributor realignments and national marketing campaigns. In 2008, George and his wife Tami, along with the Saini Family, partnered to create Saini Vineyards, a winery specializing in Old Vine Zinfandel from Dry Creek Valley. In 2009, with Elizabeth 'E' Slater, George launched the Wine Industry Network (WIN). What began as an online directory has evolved over the years into one the leading B2B marketing and media companies serving the wine industry.  WIN works with over 600 industry product and service providers and produces the WIN Expo, the 2nd largest trade show for the wine industry, along with the Wine & Weed Symposium, the Wine Industry Advisor and the Afternoon Brief, a daily news email with over 35,000 industry subscribers.

 

 

CYNTHIA GONZALEZ
CYNTHIA GONZALEZ, Founder/CEO, Elite Care California

Cynthia Gonzalez is the CEO and Founder of Elite Care California, one of California’s first female-owned and operated Non-Storefront Retail M9 licensees. For her extensive background in cannabis, she is deemed a “cannabisseur.” Cynthia has been a forceful evangelist, advocate and social policy change instrument for medical cannabis. Her tireless work fighting at the state level for the inclusion of a delivery component in our state licensing regulatory framework has resulted in thousands of new careers in the Medical Cannabis Delivery model. This led to the present State Cannabis Regulations which now include delivery services.
