"This was a beautiful house with a gorgeous view of the ocean. The house was clean and well-maintained. Just wish the management team would have let us know the oven was not working, but made it work with the hot pan they provided. Plan on going back for another vacation in the future."

"I'll start with the good first. Great location. Large house. Excellent view from the East, South and West. King bed was very comfortable. House was clean. Carport was great for unloading and entering house. All one level. Great to listen to the waves and people watch. Now for the bad. This is a very 1950's house with worn metal cabinets, a big old stove that didn't work so they put an electric hot plate too small to use for anything but heating water in the tea kettle or cooking 2 pancakes. We had to call about changing a very dirty bath mat. The furniture is 1950's bamboo frame with cushions which looked straight out to the ocean through 3 huge dirty windows that didn't open. The other couch was a sleeper sofa. There was only a small box fan to cool the whole house.The weather was beautiful, in the 70's but the house got too warm for comfort and the deck didn't have any shade, umbrella or table. You had to move a heavy iron lounge out to the deck and found a beach chair from the storage room. Our 4 night stay would have been better if there were more fans at the very least. But they didn't have any more to give us. We actually thought about leaving a day early. We're 70 yrs old. Maybe some of this wouldn't bother people that are younger."

"Yes, It's a little dated, but you can't beat the location and the views. Good WiFi, good TV, good bed and close to several good restaurants. You'll need a bit of ground clearance to get into the carport, but once you're parked you can just about walk to the beach and lunch/dinner."

The house is a little dated but the view the deck and the location supersedes that. I would definitely rent this house and recommend for others to stay!!"

Everything from the old school floral curtains, umbrella lamp shade, the the fishing cat figurines, we loved the place mostly because of the view and location, you can not beat it. The only downsides are the scary high deck with no railing and oven that didn’t work for pizza night. Either way we hope to stay here again, it was such an awesome place if you are casual and up for a little funk!"

"We love Avila Beach and this house is probably the best location to experience Avila. The house is quirky with its mid century charm. The furniture spans many decades, and even though some pieces are great representations of classic design they are worn and not the most comfortable, I'd even say many pieces are not necessary. I liked the funky beach house charm overall, but what proved to be a challenge was there was no room to store any long term supplies or food. Every open cupboard (which isn't many) is full of stuff. So much stuff. The house has a dishwasher and laundry room which is a plus. The extra 1/2 bathroom off the very comfortable master bedroom is so convenient. And the windows!!!! The house takes advantage of every possible great view! The stove and oven takes some practice. Never actually figured out how to light the oven. If you are staying a night or 2 it won't be an issue. We stayed 5 nights and had to rely on the Weber BBQ that they provide. If there were posted directions for the oven that would be a big help. The kitchen is full of dishes, an amazing array of odds and ends. Some things will prove useful, but bring paper plates and storage containers for a long stay. In the end we were there for the view, and the view of the port and boardwalk will never disappoint. "

"My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. Incredible views of the beach from both the family room, the deck, and the bedroom!! I loved being so close to the water and being able to have a visual on my teens at the beach from the house. Everything was exactly as shown in the photos/description, with a very fun vintage vibe. Will definitely stay here again."

"This is the perfect spot if you want to be right on the ocean and have a quiet vacation. From the house we viewed whales, dolphins and seals. The downside is that the house needs to be decluttered and upgraded with a new kitchen floor and bathroom floor at the minimum. If you like retro style then this is the place for you, but if you want everything in pristine and modern condition, you will be disappointed. It is a million dollar view, so if you can get over the shabby interior, then you will have a wonderful time."

"This vintage home has the most incredible view of the bay. It is right across the street from the beach and far enough from the bars and restaurants to be a perfect retreat, when you want to wind down. I wouldn't choose to stay anywhere else in Avila."
