Established in 1916, the Mary Agnes Poe House and Garden offers unique lodging in Paso Robles, CA., with a perfect setting for your next romantic getaway, family vacation, or wine country weekend on the beautiful Central Coast of California. This charming craftsman bungalow is in a quiet residential area in the heart of the historic downtown, a short walk from the city park, boutiques, wine tasting, many fine restaurants, children’s museum, and cinema. The Paso Robles Event Center, home of the Mid-State Fair, equestrian competitions, exhibitions, and other activities are also within walking distance. Hop in your car and you are just a few miles from scores of exceptional wineries, golf courses and new water park. Morro Bay, the artist community of Cambria and Hearst Castle are a pleasant drive away. The Mary Agnes Poe House features a sunny and inviting interior, complete with period furnishings, interesting original architectural features, unique wall coverings, and a fully equipped kitchen. The three cozy bedrooms have comfortable queen size beds, and an inviting sunroom has a fold-out couch that sleeps two. There are two modern full bathrooms, one featuring a spa shower. The formal dining room seats eight people comfortably and opens onto a covered deck where you can enjoy a glass of wine or morning cup of tea. With plenty of outside seating, you can rest on the sun-drenched front porch, unwind in the peaceful flower gardens with your favorite book, or entertain yourself and your guests with a barbecue on the lawn or intimate conversation under the sheltered gazebo. Fun stay at Poe house
My family and I had a great time staying at the Poe house for a couple of nights when visiting Paso Robles. The historic house is very charming yet surprisingly functional. There are 3 bedrooms and an additional "bonus" room which was perfect for our dog. One of the bedrooms has an attached bath and the 2nd bath is between bonus room and another bedroom. Dining room was a bit small but the dining table was big enough for our group of 5 adults and 1 baby.
The biggest plus for this property is LOCATION - within a ten minute walk to downtown Paso Robles.

Great location and we loved the historical house. There were several things that were less than expected though. The propane for the gas fire pit on the side house kept cutting on and off, not working appropriately. There were dishes in the cupboards dirty and with lipstick marks. Sink in master bathroom did not drain, and backed up. Also, some light bulbs out in the kitchen. Great property for a group
This property exceeded all my expectations. Plenty of room for my group, very clean and super comfortable. Other than not having a smart TV, I can’t really come up with any other down side. This is located within a half mile of the park down town and is an easy walk. It’s located on a corner and has ample street parking for all the guests. I highly recommend and I will be back. We checked in mid-afternoon- walked around inside & noticed all rooms neat, clean & ready for us!
Great floorplan; light & bright & comfortable. Unpacked got dressed for an early event @ 5PM at ONX Winery in Tin City. Location of the Poe is great & fairly quiet day & night - enjoyable. Fireplace was inviting; kitchen spacious with everything - we didn't cook though! We four friends put the Poe on our list to 're-visit' maybe with another couple as it would work for us. Peaceful Paso
Six of us had an awesome 4 day weekend over July 4th. The goal was to get away to somewhere peaceful with friends and our dogs. The home was great for the 6 of us. It was very nice of them to let us bring 3 small dogs. I checked with several places that would accept 2 but not 3. They even emailed me a list of dog friendly restaurants, nice! We traveled to Paso with our two adult kids and their spouses. There was plenty of indoor and outdoor space to socialize and relax. The home was clean and well equipped and the location was ideal, situated in a nice, residential neighborhood yet an easy walk to all the shops and restaurants. The only area that was not expected is that the property was not completely fenced, since it was dog friendly we expected it to be secure. My two friends and I met in Paso this past weekend. Overall, we had a fantastic experience dining in Downtown Paso's many wonderful restaurants and enjoyed ourselves immensely having picked out several good wineries to visit. However, our rental was definitely found wanting. The house is quaint and in a fairly quiet neighborhood just 1/2 mile from the downtown city park area so location was a definite plus. It is a historic home according to the plaque at the front door so that added to the overall charm. The problem is that the photos on the site, especially of the outside, provide an inaccurate description. We were drawn to the primary photo on the site which shows a firepit with 4 cushioned chairs. What we got were two mesh chairs in disrepair and a non-working fire pit which I believe required a new propane tank. I would think that the cleaning crew would check to make sure that it worked before the next guest came through just as they should've realized after cleaning the guest bathroom sink that the water was backing up in the bowl. The kitchen also needs updated photos as the floors were not tiled but base concrete and there is no prep area in the center. The kitchen which leads to a small patio area housed a small table and chairs that were also aged. Two of the mattresses were uncomfortable and creaked with the slightest movement (we are all under 145 pounds). The front and side yard landscape is charming but the backyard which has a patio table and grill were unkempt. This could be a great rental with a few tweaks and updates. Until then, photos that provide a more accurate description of the rental would benefit future renters. - Anonymous, Granite Bay, CA

The gardner's hours were extremely early. The blower woke everyone up at 7:00 but he may have wanted to get home early that day since it was the day before thanksgiving. Also, the pantry cooking items e. i. spices, condiments, baking essentials were really limited. I gave a 4 rating for cleanliness only because the carpet in the bedroom was dirty. A Perfect Getaway
From the moment we pulled up to The Poe House, we knew this was going to be the perfect spot for us...beautiful, well-tended gardens and a lovely, spotless and comfortable home inside. Charming, beautiful in the heart of Paso Robles
We had an amazing time at Poe's house. The house had this vintage look, vey charming and welcoming. The 3 king beds were really confortable and even the pullout sofa. Everyone in my family had their own room there was enough space for a family of 8. It is all top model appliances. The kitchen was so beautiful and well stocked with everything you may need to make a meal. The yard is big and well manicured. The only thing is that if you bring dogs there is no really a fence gate so your doggies may scape. We loved the outdoor fireplace, we just sat there looking at the stars with a a glass of wine. We even saw a deer roaming around the streets. Both bathrooms have been remodeled and they are well equipped with towels, soap, TP, etc. The only thing we noticed is that if both showers are going at the same time, the master bedroom bathroom gets cold water only. Perfect Poe House
We so enjoyed our week at the Poe House. This was not a planned vacation as we were evacuated during the Thomas Fire from Santa Barbara. The management and the owner welcomed us and efficiently arranged for this lovely home to be available on the same day short notice based on our circumstances. To our delight, the property was immaculate, beautifully decorated both indoors and outdoors, and the owner and the manager could not have been kinder, more welcoming, and what began as a stressful experience turned out to be calming and perfect home away from home for the week. The kitchen was so well equipped and the high end stove was fabulous! The house was decorated for Christmas and the downtown area of Paso Robles was festive and fun. We hope to return under happier circumstances and we were able to relax in the comfort and "homey" feeling of this property with appreciation to the owner and manager.

Great Place to stay In Paso Robles
This property is located near the downtown area, but is a nice quiet neighborhood. It's an older home, but very clean and maintained. Kitchen had everything needed to cook for our extended family. Lots of nice touches such as nice heavy towels, nice linens, and toiletries. Rooms are rather small, but we spent most of our time outdoors in the well maintained yard and garden. Great to have a washer and dryer handy. Do recommend more lighting in the kitchen at night. lots of light during the day. Should probably change the picture showing the house since those chairs are no longer there around the fire pit. We heard lots of stories about the Poe house from a lot of our friends and family who live in Paso.

Cozy Little Escape
The house was very nicely updated with high end fixtures and very tastefully decorated. Everything worked well and was well equiped with everything we needed for our romantic weekend. The weather was cold, but the heater was powerful and kept the house comfortable. We enjoyed exploring the area and eating good food in Paso Robles. Within walking distance of the main Central Park area and all the yummy food it offers. We ended up not bringing our dog, but it would have worked well for a well behaved pet. We were in town for our daughter's wedding and rented several houses for out-of-town guests and family. The Poe House felt more like a Home than a rental house. It was clean, comfy, beautiful, airy, well equipped, well-maintained grounds, For our needs it was perfect. Afterwards we had guests forget some valuables at one of the houses. Everything about Poe House exceeded my hopes--decor, furniture, complete kitchen, grounds, several intimate places to sit and enjoy the wonderful plants/flowers/water features. Thanksgiving Delight!!
Our now-adult family of six enjoyed a quaint and comfoirting five days together over Thanksgiving. We were amazed that the Poe House was fully appointed with every type of kitchen necessity. It had also been specially decorated for the season by the care-takers. The fresh flowers and complimenary bottle of wine made us feel welcomed too. A Great Wine Weekend
The Poe House was a great choice for our weekend stay during the Harvest Festival. Centrally located, with just a short drive to wineries and right next to downtown, it's in the perfect spot within Paso. We shared the house with 2 other couples, and the amenities were great: Viking stove, propane BBQ pit, and an outdoor firepit. The kitchen also has a very, very quiet dishwasher (so you can do your dishes overnight), and washer and dryer is also available. We took advantage of the BBQ and grilled every night. The only (small) improvement I could think of is more light in the (beautiful!) backyard, as it gets pretty dark outside, and it'd be great to be able eat dinner outdoors.
Overall, it's an incredible house - everything is very well thought out, and full of amazing amenities. You won't be disappointed. - Alex S., San Francisco, CA

We had a wonderful weekend at the Poe House. We stayed for 2 nights (6 adults and 2 babies) and were very pleased with the accomodations. The rooms are a little small so we had to move some chairs to fit the pack n plays in the rooms, but we managed just fine. The house is very charming and clean and walking distance to downtown. Warm, inviting ambiance
The Poe House is a beautiful respite just a few blocks from the square in downtown Paso Robles. It easily accommodates 6 adults and has a small yard (fenced) where toddlers can play and roam. The fountains and gardens make it a true oasis. I highly recommend the Poe House - just please don't try to rent it during Wildflower weekend. The house was charming and delightful, and such an improvement over staying in a hotel that we all agreed we would definitely do this again! We had a great time. The home was in a perfect location to town, restaurants and wineries. The outside fire pit was awesome. 10 of us wined and dined and chatted for hours. The inside is decorated beautifully with an over the top kitchen. Great for us because we ended up cooking there most of the time. Plenty of room for 8 adults. We needed more seating in the living room so we moved the couch from the parlor room into the living room and it worked out perfectly. The younger adults brought a blow up bed and they had plenty of room and privacy in the parlor roon. The owners are nice and we will all stay there again. A Week in Paso

Where do I begin... It was a wonderful and comfortable visit!! It's location is perfect for walking to town or bicycling (we brought our bicycles but never used them. We walked to everything)
The cottage IS as cute as it looks in the photos! Very well supplied, very clean, nicely manicured grounds, and just about anything you might need in a kitchen including machines to do laundry!
Although it is a 3 bedroom, I will say 2 of the rooms lack for storage/closet space, otherwise a great place to stay and even meet the very friendly neighbors.
Working with Becky and Beth at Paso Robles Rental agency was a pleasure, they were always very pleasant and very accommodating to meet our needs. They helped make our visit an easy and comfortable one.

My 50th Birthday Weekend
We stayed at the Poe House for my 50th birthday weekend and it was perfect! We had 4 couples and the house offered plenty of room for all of us. We enjoyed sitting in the garden during the day and the fire pit in the evening.

Our family has grown too large to stay in one home for our annual reunion so we rented the Poe house for the 3 elder couples of the family. That way we could gather at the large house with our kids and grandchildren and then return to the little house to sleep. This house was perfect except for the second bathroom that is adjacent to one bedroom but awkwardly situated for the other bedroom. This is a minor problem for us older ones that need convenient access to a bathroom at night. Otherwise the house is darling and the garden is lovely. We had a great time staying at the Poe house. There were four couples and there was plenty of room for all of us! One couple stayed on the large couch - they said it wasn't the softest, but it was nice that it was it's own semi-private room. It was in walking distance to town, though we drove most of the time. The kitchen was well stocked with things needed to cook, though new knives would be helpful as those are a little dull.
