Community Parks and Playgrounds

Experience SLO CAL like a local, and take the clan to a community park or playground. From Paso Robles and Atascadero in the north to Pismo Beach and Arroyo Grande in the south, and everywhere in between, SLO CAL offers parks and dog parks that meet diverse itineraries. Each park has its own feel and mix of amenities.

Ready to hit the courts? Numerous parks feature tennis courts, and some have courts designed especially for pickleball, a fast-growing paddle sport for all ages and skill levels. Disc golf enthusiasts have their pick of SLO CAL courses. Basketball, volleyball and bocce ball courts are also found in parks throughout the county.

Make a day of a trip to the park, and bring along a picnic, or light up a barbecue. The youngest set will love scrambling over and under playground equipment after lunch. At the newly renovated Sinsheimer Park in San Luis Obispo, kids of all ages delight in climbing the extensive play structure, sliding down an astroturf slide and swinging across the zip line.

There’s no need to sacrifice stunning views while at a community park or playground. Right off Highway 1 are several parks, located at the top of oceanside bluffs, close enough to the coast to hear the waves crashing into the shore. Other parks deliver sweeping landscapes of the ocean, dunes or rolling hills.
