Old Mission San Miguel Arcangel
Make your way to the edge of town and step into California history at Old Mission San Miguel Arcangel. Founded on July 25, 1797, by Father Fermin de Lasuén, it’s the 16th of the 21 historic California Missions. Known for being one of the most authentic and best-preserved, the Mission Church still features original murals and artwork painted by the Salinan people and artist Esteban Munras.
Museum hours are Thursday through Monday 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.

Rio-Caledonia Adobe
Just down the road, continue your journey through time at the Rios-Caledonia Adobe. Once home to the overseer of Mission lands, this historic site was an inn and stagecoach stop in the 1800s. Today, it’s a well-kept museum and gift shop, complete with a unique research library added in 1930, perfect for curious minds.
The Adobe is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm. The grounds are open daily.

Camp Roberts Historical Museum
Before you grab lunch, don’t miss another hidden gem: the Camp Roberts Historical Museum on Camp Roberts. It’s the largest Army museum in California, set on land that was once part of the original Mission property. Camp Roberts opened in 1941 as one of the world’s largest military training facilities and is now run by the California Army National Guard. From military history to local heritage, this final stop ties together San Miguel’s deep-rooted story in a meaningful way.
