Children’s Museums

Why should adults have all the fun? At SLO CAL’s children’s museums, the youngest set gets in on the action. Ignite children’s natural curiosity with interactive exhibits, both indoor and outdoor, that encourage them to ask questions and explore through play.

At the children’s museum in Paso Robles, kids scramble over a real working fire engine in dress-up firefighter gear or crawl through the roots of the Oak Tree exhibit, which looks as real as the many oaks found up and down the Central Coast. In San Luis Obispo, children delight in performing onstage in full costume or creating topographic maps by playing with kinetic sand in an area dedicated to science and engineering. An outdoor play space beckons when the tots need to let off some more steam.

In Grover Beach, a science-based museum motivates wonder through interactive science exhibits. The center invites children to touch and explore science with their hands, learning about everything from the solar system to the human body.

Exhibits at the museums tend to be geared toward the younger crowd, but children of all ages are welcome to play and discover their innate sense of wonder.
