Start flying, floating and tasting your way through SLO CAL – follow this complete Unpacking Episode 3 itinerary:
Land at San Luis Obispo Regional Airport and get ready for two fun filled days of exploration featuring a mix of adventures, drinks and unforgettable experiences.

Grab your cowboy hat and get ready to go horseback riding through wine country. Explore the rolling hills, ridgelines and vineyards from atop one of Central Coast Trailrides’ trusted steeds. Take in the views with a trained local guide by your side. You’ll explore off the beaten path areas of SLO CAL and see wildlife, wildflowers and foliage along the way. Want to live out your wild-west dreams? Book a ranch ride where you can explore a working cattle ranch with ocean views!

After an afternoon on horseback, it’s time for a Cabernet. Hope on Park offers layers of wine experiences: from their no-reservations sidewalk tasting bar, to their three lounged creative space where each room offers a different motif and collection of wines. Reserve a black glass tasting and test your skills at identifying wines, based only on smell and taste. The Hope on Park’s menu also includes seasonal wine cocktails and charcuterie boards (upon request) complete with caviar. This is sure to be a unique and spectacular wine tasting experience.

Next stop is the beach! Wind down on Vespera Resort’s outdoor patio ‘The Starlight Lawn’ complete with fire pit tables. Food and beverage are available, as well as s’more kits when you book an oceanfront fire pit experience. Listen to the waves roll in under the stars. And don’t miss taking the boardwalk, right outside Vespera’s lawn, to the iconic Pismo Beach neon sign.

Start day two by heading to the farm! Halcyon Farms grows over sixty variety of fruits and vegetables using organic methods. They also have fresh cut flowers and u-pick days seasonally. Checking out the farm stand and picking up a taste of SLO CAL is a must when you’re in the area. This produce is as fresh as it gets, harvested (try yourself or leave it to the professionals) the same day as your purchase.

Next, head to the airport, but don’t worry, you’re not heading home yet. Take to the skies and experience Pismo Beach from above. At Banner Airways, you’ll board one of their iconic planes, like the yellow 1942 biplane that was used in World War II. This plane is open air and a truly spectacular way to sightsee. For the adrenalin junkie, book a thrilling aerobatic ride.

Lopez Lake is located only 15 minutes from the Village of Arroyo Grande but feels like miles away. The recreation area has 22 miles of shoreline and is home to many varieties of plants and animals. Once the hunting and fishing of the Chumash tribe, the lake is a popular relaxation spot for fishing, boating and there’s even a high adventure ropes course nearby! Rent a pontoon from the Lopez Lake Marina for a relaxing afternoon exploring the lake's meandering coastline.
