Faces of Freedom Veterans Memorial in Atascadero

The Atascadero Faces of Freedom Veterans Memorial honors military members today, not only with words but with this lasting tribute. The Faces of Freedom Memorial is a beautiful 70-foot curved wall broken up into two sections: The Heroes Wall and Scroll of Honor. The wall contains descriptions of the US Conflicts since WWI and is engraved with the names of the 231 fallen soldiers of San Luis Obispo County. In the middle of the Memorial stands a sculpture representing the men and women who served in the American military and serves as a timeline since the beginning of WWI through today's global war on terror.

 

Estrella Warbirds Museum In Paso Robles

📍4251 Dry Creek Road, Paso Robles

Located on over 13 acres of land at the Paso Robles Municipal Airport, the Estrella Warbirds Museum is dedicated to the restoration and preservation of military aircraft, vehicles and memorabilia of those who flew and worked in the military aviation field. You'll be able to see such aircraft like the 1946 Aeronca Liaison L-16, 1954 Grumman F-9F-8P Cougar and a 1975 Northrop-Grumman F-14B Tomcat, as well as missiles and armament.

 

California Central Coast Veterans Memorial Museum in San Luis Obispo

📍801 Grand Avenue, San Luis Obispo

This museum was created to collect and preserve military artifacts, memorabilia and recorded memories of those who have served. A knowledgeable and helpful docent will greet you upon arrival, who are often veterans themselves. You'll find an extensive collection of uniform tops, Order of Battle maps, display cases containing a wide variety of war memorabilia and an Armory with a comprehensive display of weapons.

 

San Luis Obispo World Trade Center Memorial

📍2160 Santa Barbara St., San Luis Obispo

Located at San Luis Obispo's main fire station you'll find a site dedicated to the extraordinary sacrifices made my public safety personnel during and after the attacks of September 11, 2001, and those 403 emergency workers who dies while helping others try to escape the World Trade Center towers. In the center of a circular plaza, visitors will find a massive steel I-beam that once was a structural support for one of the World Trade Center towers.

 

Cambria Veterans Memorial Project

The Cambria Veterans Memorial Project recognized and honors the selfless service and sacrifice of all of our nation's past, present and future military members, placing special emphasis on the veterans who call Cambria home.

Did you know: During WWII, U.S. Troops were stationed in Morro Bay where they learned about sea-borne invasion techniques and also built piers and many bridges around town.
