Spend a day hiking or biking up the mountain, and try to spot the ten foot wing span of the California Condor. Just a few miles from Pozo, this lookout is perched atop Hi Mountain. Sitting above the clouds, the structure offers 360 degree view to trap your gaze in the overwhelming scenery, spectacular any time of the day or night. This lookout is being used to track the California Condor, a bird that was nearly extinct, and is now at a population of just over three hundred. Occupying the lookout are friendly volunteers and interns with a well of information about the surrounding area and its inhabitants. Bikers and hikers are welcome without a reservation from July through September. Be sure to get permission before driving up to the lookout, your vehicle must have at least a ten inch clearance.
