details
In late September 1955, the young Hollywood star James Dean was killed in a fatal accident at the junction of what is now highway 41 and 46. The junction was later named the James Dean Memorial Highway to commemorate the young starlet and his brief but effective career. Just a short drive farther down highway 46, you will find a memorial sculpture standing in honor of the actor, lost at twenty four. Near by is a cafe featuring James Dean memorabilia, and souvenirs. The spot is a popular tourist stop, frequented by those intrigued by the infamous memory Dean left behind.
