Visit SLO CAL would like to ensure you that if you enter your email or mailing address into a form on our website, it will only be used to deliver our destination-related information you requested. Your information will not be sold to other organizations for commercial purposes.

When you fill out the form to receive our Visitor Magazine, you have the option to receive our monthly email newsletter. This is a double opt-in process and requires you to answer the email message that asks for your permission. If you would like to receive this monthly email newsletter about our destination, please ensure you follow the instructions received in the email message.

You may opt-out at any time from subscriptions to our online newsletters. We presently offer several separate online visitor newsletters, and since you may wish to receive some but not all of them, you will need to opt-out of the ones you don't want separately. To do so, just click on the "Unsubscribe" link that we incorporate into each emailing.

What kind of information do we collect?

Personal Information

The only personal information we collect is what you explicitly give us when you leave a comment, or communicate with us by email, RFP forms, media forms and contact forms. This information includes name, email address, company name, location and product preferences, among other fields stated in each form.

Non-Personal Information

Our website advertising partners may collect information like your IP address, the type of browser you are using, the referring website, the operating system you are using, your Internet service provider, the search terms you use on our site, the specific web pages you visit, your location, demographics and the duration of your visits.

Use of Cookies

A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's hard drive containing non-personally identifiable information. Once the user closes their browser, the cookie simply terminates. For instance, by setting a cookie on our site, the user would not have to log in with their a password more than once, thereby saving time while exploring our site. If a user rejects the cookie, they may still use our site. Cookies can also enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience on our site.

How do we use your information?

This site and its affiliates may use non-personal information to help analyze site traffic and understand customer needs and trends. This kind of data is used to target audiences, improve content strategies and measure demand for certain products and services. Visit SLO CAL also keeps an email list of users that have provided such information to be included in our email newsletter. Users can unsubscribe at any time by using the unsubscribe link provided in each email communication or by contacting us directly.

We also use our partner and customer information in our Customer Relationship Management System (CMS) to send media leads, service requests and room leads. We use our CRM to store information about interactions with companies and individuals and we may send emails directly from that platform. You can opt out of CRM emails by adjusting your email notification settings in SLO CAL Connection by going to Profile > Contacts > Edit Contact and selecting “NO” under the field “Send email” (see page 12 of this document).


Third-Party Advertising

Visit SLO CAL provides links to many websites in business listings, events, blog posts and content pages. We recommend sites based on the value they may provide for our users and the privacy policies of those websites might be different than ours.

Our Commitment to Privacy

We’re committed to our users enjoying to help them understand and prepare for the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”). The GDPR is the most comprehensive EU data privacy law in decades and will come into effect on May 25, 2018.

As well as strengthening and unifying user data privacy across the EU, it also puts new or additional obligations upon anyone that handles EU citizens’ personal data, regardless of where they are located. 


Your Data Rights

Right to Access

Any individual may request to review the information collected about them and request for that information to be deleted permanently or modified, if errors or omissions are found. Requests will be processed in no more than one month from the date of the inquiry.

Requests for information may come in the form of website contact forms or emails to with the subject line “GDPR Access” and any member of the our staff can receive the request for information. For the request to be considered official, the individual must include the following information:

  • Full name and other names used in the past

  • A brief description of the individual’s relationship with the organization

  • Country of citizenship>

  • Email address to contact the individual directly

Right to Rectification

Individuals have the right to request changes to inaccurate or incomplete information about them and ask for it to be rectified without undue delay.

For the rectification request to be considered official, the individual must submit an email to with the subject “GDPR Rectification” and provide the following:

  • Full name and other names used in the past

  • Specify which data is incorrect and point to the location of that data in the file provided, so the information is easy to find

  • If a request to complete incomplete information is being made, a compelling reason for such request, in addition to the data needed to complete the individual’s information must be provided

  • Email address to contact the individual directly

Right to be Forgotten

An individual can request for their information to be deleted in any of the following cases:

  1. the personal data are no longer necessary in relation to the purposes for which they were collected or otherwise processed;

  2. the data subject withdraws consent on which the processing is based and where there is no other legal ground for the processing;

  3. the data subject objects to the processing and there are no overriding legitimate grounds for the processing,

  4. the personal data have been unlawfully processed;

  5. the personal data have to be erased for compliance with a legal obligation in Union or Member State law to which the controller is subject;

  6. the personal data have been collected in relation to the offer of information society services referred.

Requests for erasure must be sent to with the subject line “GDPR Erasure” and must contain:

  • Full name and other names used in the past

  • Reason to request deletion of the data

  • Email address to contact the individual directly


Data security

We use vendors and technology partners that abide by the highest standards of information security, however, we know that data breaches happen and we are committed to disclosing any data breaches to our users and data protection authorities within 72 hours of learning about the information being compromised.


GDPR Adoption

The GDPR updated requirements are significant and our team is working to bring Visit SLO CAL’s service offerings in line so Customers can be prepared. Measures to achieve this include:

  • Changes in our newsletter sign-ups. We updated all opt-in checkboxes to require an action taken. All language with exactly what you are signing up for is on forms/landing pages on the website.

  • Policies. We have updated our Privacy Policy and we are working on our internal policies and practices to ensure that we are aligned with the GDPR requirements.
