Farm Stands and U-Pick

Local farms thrive in SLO CAL, where agriculture is still a way of life. Enjoy fresh produce, and experience firsthand the care that goes into getting produce from farm-to-table through a visit to a SLO CAL farm stand or U-pick farm.

Farm stands dot SLO CAL’s back roads, providing fresh locally grown fruits and vegetables that vary by season. Depending on the time of year, you’ll discover packed-with-flavor berries, peaches, plums, carrots, asparagus and broccoli. Some stands also offer regional flowers, honey, eggs and oils. Many farmers are happy to chat about their commitment to local, sustainable farming practices.

To get even closer to the food source, grab some comfortable shoes, and head out to the orchard or field to select your own produce. U-pick farms make for a great low-cost adventure that gets you up close with SLO CAL’s agricultural heritage. Blackberries in the summer and apples in the fall are two of the most popular U-pick crops. Olallieberries, garlic and sweet onions, lavender, peaches and plums, heirloom tomatoes and pumpkins can additionally be handpicked.
