The fishing pier is open to all and a license is not required, although limits are enforced. The pier is also lit for night fishing. Many of the shops near the beach are historical buildings left over from the prospering old town and still stand as variety of restaurants, antique stores, and specialty item shops. The sandy beach offers mild weather, watersports such as surfing and swimming, and tidepooling. There are picnic tables, play equipment, restrooms and outside showers available. Dogs are welcome on Cayucos beaches; please remember California does have a leash law. The beach at 24th Street is a most popular spot, located five miles north of Morro Bay, at the foot of Cayucos Drive.
